Dear Friends,
To fight for the right
Without question or pause
To be willing to march
Into hell for a heavenly cause.
De La Mancha, Don Quixote
The Broadway musical, Man of La Mancha presents stories within a story. I love the lyrics quoted above and famously written by Joe Darion. When the baritone, as Don Quixote, sings of courage, of fighting without pause, and is willing to march into difficulty because the cause is noble, you who support REACH come to my mind. Often in the face of overwhelming adversity, you support and fight for justice on behalf of our families.
I am extraordinarily pleased to announce that we have received a 'matching grant' from the Murdock Trust to assist us in serving our terminally ill children with HIV/AIDS. In order to receive this grant REACH must match $24,000 by the end of September. You can see that our need requires the courage of the knightly Don Quixote. It requires us to boldly ask that you give beyond your presently committed monthly donations and pledges. And if you are not already donating, I strongly urge you to give.
"As I think about what REACH is about, it is more than the sum of events and dedicated staff, but REACH is the of beginning of healing for our family as a whole, and I am forever grateful for your presence in this journey." – Anon
Just as in the musical Man of La Mancha there are stories upon stories, so with REACH. Each family brings us a story uniquely their own; each presents us with a breathtaking challenge. Ours is a heavenly cause; please join us on this inspirational path and give above and beyond so we may continue to serve.
Sincerely,
Susan K. Slonaker
